The event, sponsored by the Westchester Community Foundation and the United Way of Westchester and Putnam counties, featured keynote speakers Kevin Plunkett, Deputy County Executive of Westchester County, Congresswoman Nita Lowey, and Adam Braun, Founder of the non-profit group Pencils of Promise, who collectively spoke on the necessity of nonprofits operating in Westchester County. The Summit’s mission is to educate, empower and promote innovative approaches for successfully running local non-profit ventures.
According to Westchester-based group Nonprofit Westchester, the nonprofit sector is a significant contributor to Westchester County’s economic livelihood via employment figures and services offered to Westchester County residents.
