China Summer Study Series (Part 3) : Sharyn Luncheon

0

Thanks to everyone involved in the China Summer Study program in Beijing. I have had a surprisingly adventurous summer, and an amazing experience in China. The students and professors at China Youth University of Political Studies (CYU) were so welcoming and accommodating to all of us. They were warm and thoughtful. I truly felt cared for. The students did a masterful job with helping us to know the layout of the campus and the city of Beijing. I am so grateful to have met all of the Chinese students, who have now become life-long friends that share my interest in social work. Indeed they are stars among their peers!

China Study 3The course taught by Dr. Cooper and her husband Dr. Gorman, was the icing on the cake. Both professors encouraged an exciting learning environment that offered an enriched dose of cultural exchange. After completing all of my clinical courses, taking Dr. Cooper’s class was really helpful in reflecting on all that I have learned during my M.S.W career at Fordham University GSS.

The field trips were eye openers, and really gave us a glimpse into the Chinese social work scene. Every day was a different learning experience, and I am glad that I was able to be a part of this new beginning for Fordham and China Youth University. My life has forever changed because of it.

I’m looking forward to welcoming the Chinese students to NYC. I’ve already planned weekend excursions around the city. I would like to encourage future students who may be considering the study abroad program in Beijing. Take my advice, and make an investment in your education by going to China. It will be an experience of a lifetime!
