This is a series where we ask Fordham GSS Master of Social Work students to tell us why they chose to pursue the social work profession, and why they picked Fordham for their educational experience. Jennifer Gregoriano is a full-time MSW student at the Westchester campus. If you’d like to speak with a student ambassador about the Fordham MSW experience, contact them here.
Why do you want to be a social worker?
I got my undergrad in psychology, and I really want to go into the clinical side, doing talk therapy or maybe even family therapy. As I got my minor in social work, I just realized I really love social work and I love the foundations of social work. There are so many different opportunities. And I felt like in psychology, I kind of would have been boxed in. So I’m really excited to explore the different sides of social work, like school social work and clinical social work, and see where I end up.
Why did you choose Fordham?
I just heard so many amazing things about Fordham, and I definitely wanted to go to a school I’d be proud of attending. When my student ambassador actually reached out to me, I felt like that was so personable. And I really liked that, just because I felt like I was already connected to the school, and I had someone asking me those important questions. I felt kind of lost, so I thought that was really helpful.
