On December 27th, Professor Kesselman invited students from his “Human Behavior in the Social Environment” classes to a live broadcast of Democracy Now!, a groundbreaking news program hosted by the renowned independent journalist Amy Goodman. The show is broadcast by over 1,400 radio and television stations worldwide.
Eve Blazo, a Fordham GSS foundation year student, described the trip:
“Witnessing the inner workings of a power house independent news program, including a live broadcast, tour of the studio, and Q & A with featured panelists, was an all-around enlightening experience. Towards the end, host Amy Goodman joined us to debrief, and revealed the thread linking the fields of independent journalism and social work: our shared responsibility is to empower, encourage storytelling, and above all to listen.”
In addition to watching the broadcast, the students toured the studio and met the staff and production crew.
