Dean’s Statement | Devastation in Turkey and Syria

0

Dear GSS Community,

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria and its devastating impact on these countries and their people. The tragedy has caused unimaginable loss of life, widespread destruction and has displaced millions of individuals and families.

As social workers, we must stand in solidarity with those in need and demonstrate the compassion and care that is at the heart of our profession. I urge each of you to consider how you can assist in the relief and recovery efforts. Whether it be through making a donation, volunteering your time and expertise, or simply raising awareness about the disaster, every action can make a difference.

I want to extend our support to any of our students or alumni who may have family and loved ones impacted by this tragedy. If you or someone you know needs assistance, Fordham GSS is here to help in any way we can. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

As we offer our prayers and condolences, let us come together as a community to support the suffering people of Turkey and Syria.

Sincerely,
Debra M. McPhee, Ph.D.
Dean
