Online and Upward

Universities and Colleges from across the country offering distance education in social work convened in Indianapolis last week for the 2nd Annual Social Work Distance Education conference sponsored by Indiana University and the Council on Social Work Education. Murmurs of asynchronous, virtual site visits, video-conferencing, and technical innovation could be heard throughout the halls of Union Station; terms familiar to those delivering online social work education. With 75 graduate social work schools represented at only the 2nd annual conference, it is clear that online education is no longer a new trend, but rather a well-established and highly regarded method of delivering an MSW degree. As the demands for online learning continues to rise, this conference is ever more relevant to the changing needs of the graduate social work student who seek a more flexible and accessible path to graduate social work education.

Fordham was well represented at the conference by members of both faculty and administration who had the opportunity to network amongst fellow educators sharing the same mission in providing high quality social work education in an online format.  We embrace the challenges ahead and value the opportunity to advance our nationally ranked Online MSW Program.
