“By Latinas for Latinas”: Fordham Undergrads Work with GSS Professor on Digital Zines

0
In the Spring of 2022, 10 Latina undergraduate students (collectively called Tus Hermanas Mayores) collaboratively created two zines (online, digital publications) as part of a participatory digital research project led by GSS Assistant Professor Jenn Lilly, Ph.D.

The Bloom zines, which are freely available for download and dissemination, seek to spread health-related messages to Latina adolescents and young adults. Combining original artwork with stories, essays, poems, and other messages from Latinas to Latinas, the Bloom zines focus on the topics of mental health, sexuality, gender, and relationships. The collaboratively produced zines are an accessible means of sharing findings from a broader research study entitled Health Opportunities for Latina Adolescents and Young Adults (HOLA) funded by the Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation at the New York Community Trust and the Fordham Faculty Research Grant (PI Dr. Jenn Lilly). For more information about the project, contact Dr. Jenn Lilly at jlilly9@fordham.edu.
