On June 9, we held our GSS Alumni Reunion in conjunction with the other professional schools, the Undergraduate College at Lincoln Center, and the Office of Alumni Relations. It was a wonderful event with approximately 100 Alums participating. In addition to the lovely food and drink, Father McShane stopped by to deliver a very special welcome. But the highlight of the evening was most definitely the presentation of the GSS Centennial Scholarship Awards.
Funds for the GSS Centennial Scholarship funds have been provided by the University this year in recognition of our 100 years celebration. We were asked to establish a competitive process for our current GSS students for scholarship awards of $5,000 each. Rather than the traditional process of a written statement and application, we decide to go with a creative submission format. Along with their GPA and letters of support, students were asked to submit a video of no longer than two minutes that delivered a message to social workers of the future – What do social workers need to know in the next 100 years?
From all the entries the top five students and submissions were selected as our Centennial Scholarship recipients. The students are:
Aditi Champa
Shawnte Carter
Victoria Arthur
Michael Janosch
