[Podcast] Alive Inside: Music and the Quality of Life for Elders

Charlene Rymsha and Marija Marinkovic, GSS ’15 and members of GSS’ Art Based Social Work Practice collective, recently had an opportunity to interview Dan Cohen, MSW, Innovator and Founder of the nonprofit Music & Memory, Inc.

Dan is the principle subject in the groundbreaking film Alive Inside: The Story of Music & Memory, that followed his campaign to bring personalized music playlists to nursing homes. His work with Music & Memory promotes the use of digital music players with individualized playlists to improve the quality of life for elders, regardless of their cognitive or physical status. He spent most of his career helping individuals and organizations better leverage technology. Music & Memory operates in hundreds of long-term care homes across the U.S. and abroad.
