0

On Monday, May 1, the PIPELINE for Youth Health Fellowship Program held a capstone presentation session for the 2023 cohort at Fordham’s Lincoln Center campus.

Each presenter showcased their research from the PIPELINE program’s capstone project to their fellow PIPELINE colleagues and members from the GSS Community. The evening culminated all these students’ hard work and dedication to the program, their field placements, and the social work profession. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait to watch them thrive as they graduate and head into their careers!

“PIPELINE was an exceptional experience, something I bragged about to friends and colleagues, and something I encouraged generalist students to apply for in their specialist year.” – Matt Carter

“PIPELINE offered me an opportunity to gain further insight of what it means to truly provide the best care for our communities and what my role in that is as a social worker. It has prepared me to tackle some of the challenges I will face as I continue my professional career through the implementation of my Capstone.” – Lizbel Chavez

“As a PIPELINE fellow, I identified a need at my field placement and addressed this need by implementing a technique I learned from my coursework. I was able to make a difference at my field placement that will transcend after I depart, and that is what PIPELINE aims for us to do. Forever grateful and thankful to be a PIPELINE Fellow.” – Jailene Guillermo

“Pipeline was a great fellowship to expand your learning. I was able to witness what I was reading in my classroom cases in my internship and gain real-life experience. This fellowship should continue to be funded for decades to come!” – Maria Mercedes Guzman Herrera

“The PIPELINE program really increased my understanding of the need for integrated behavioral health in the hospital setting. I was able to see firsthand with my adolescent patients how they benefitted from early mental health screening and intervention. I am thankful that I was able to have such an applicable field placement. Working with a collaborative team alongside my patients and getting to see the positive effects of collaborative care for my patients is really what made the program worth it for me.” –  Julia Stawiski

“My time in the PIPELINE for Youth Health Program was a tremendous learning experience. I started off finding it difficult to get the population of teens I was working with to open up. A few months later, the good group of teens were ecstatic to be a part of the groups I created.” – Justice Reyes

“The Pipeline for Youth Health is invaluable because it combines hands-on learning, with modern scholarship to prepare the student for an advanced or challenging professional environment.” – Junior Philippe

“The capstone project and the PIPELINE for Youth Health program were invaluable experiences that assisted me in creating a multifaceted body of work that represents the culmination of my academic and intellectual development. ” – Carmen L. Reyes

“PIPELINE is the future of medicine. We can no longer separate mental and physical health; they are interconnected. I am so proud to be part of this transformation for the future. Social workers belong at all levels of health care, especially in prevention. ” – Lori Gaskill

“PIPELINE made me open my mind to the other side of social work and realize how much I really love the versatility in this field.” – Fabiola De Jesus

“The PIPELINE program made me more aware of the disparities that exist in the health system. I am now more mindful about the reasons why clients do not seek out or continue the mental health services.” – Yovany Cruz

“The capstone project symposium was the highlight of my year in PIPELINE. It was such a wonderful and rewarding experience to connect with fellows and see all the hard work they’ve put into these projects over the year as well as share my own experience! It was such a great end to the year being able to celebrate our hard work and reflect on the time we spent together in the program.” – Meg Cardi

“The difference you make in a child’s life today can impact them for the rest of their life!” – Erika Vargas

“This was a great experience. I learned so much about my chosen topic and the field I am going into.” – Narlena Ruiz
