Associate Professor Binta Alleyne-Green Elected to CSWE National Committee

The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) recently elected Graduate School of Social Service Associate Professor Binta Alleyne-Green, Ph.D., to serve on the National Nominating Committee as a Graduate Faculty Representative.

The election closed on May 24, 2021, and the CSWE announced winners on June 9, 2021. Alleyne-Green’s position is a three-year term. She will serve from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024.

“I’m very honored to represent not only GSS but all graduate school faculty across the country in this role over the next three years,” Alleyne-Green said.

According to the CSWE website, the responsibilities of the National Nominating Committee are as follows:

  1. The nominating committee, in accordance with policies prescribed by the Council, shall prepare double slates of nominees for officers, members of the board of directors, and members of the nominating committee.
  2. The nominating committee will develop a slate of candidates for officers and board members that will result in 50% composition from underrepresented groups as identified in the CSWE’s Affirmative Action Policy and Plan. (PDF)
  3. Not less than 90 days prior to the election, the nominating committee shall report its nominations to the secretary, who in turn will convey them to the executive committee of the board of directors.
