Tiffany Schiller, a foundation year student in the Graduate School of Social Service, will be offering a FREE All-Levels Yoga class on Saturdays between 12:40 and 1:20 pm. The first class will be on June 2 and will repeat on Saturdays through July 7.
This 40 minute class will focus on breathe work and simple vinyasa sequencing. Classes will be suited for all levels, including those who have never attempted yoga before.
The intention of this class is to invite yoga, as a form of self-care, into the everyday lives of social work students. Inspired by the words of Audre Lord, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare,” Tiffany hopes to aid social work students in learning to self-advocate by first finding compassion for themselves and others on a yoga mat.
Classes will be held on the Lincoln Center Campus in McMahon Hall room 109 (easily accessible underground, past the old library). Please bring your own mat and wear clothing that you are comfortable moving around in.
This event is open to all Fordham GSS students and alumni.
If you have any questions or concerns (e.g. “I don’t have a yoga mat, what do I do?”) please reach out to Tiffany Schiller at tschiller@fordham.edu.
